Ozzy Osborne will soon be joining the NetEnt musical hall of fame, alongside some of the music industry’s greats. NetEnt’s latest video pokie release will feature the Prince of Darkness himself, and Ozzy will join the company’s other band-branded pokies such as Guns n’ Roses, Motörhead and Jimi Hendrix.
NetEnt has not released any further details about the pokie, however, we are sure that fans will be jamming along to some good old heavy metal while spinning the reels on this one. The developer has only said that the game will feature imagery and vocals of the well-known Osborne.
Director of Game Products, Bryan Upton, said in a press release that Osbourne's personality and musical contribution have secured him a passionate fan base over the last 50 years. They do not come better known or charismatic, and NetEnt cannot wait to recreate this in their game.
The Chairman of Global Merchandising and Osbourne’s merchandising partner, Barry Drinkwater, brokered the deal. Drinkwater has had several of the artists his company represents added to the NetEnt branded bands portfolio, and he shared his excitement at Ozzy joining the ranks.
Ozzy first became a musical icon in the ’70s as a member of Black Sabbath, the band believed to have started the heavy metal revolution. The band had multiple hits and success, but Ozzy left in 1979 after living on the road and its excesses took its toll.
Osborne went on to have a highly successful career as a solo artist and reality television star. Several of his post-Black Sabbath albums went platinum. He launched the annual Ozzfest through which many unknown bands were promoted and finally stared in his own reality series, The Osbournes.
The Osborne's starring Ozzy, his wife Sharon and two children Jack and Kelly (Aimee and Louis were not featured) was a roaring success, and led to Ozzy & Jacks World Detour.
Ozzy has been inducted into the music hall of fame and received an Ivor Novello lifetime achievement award.
